CARE AND CLEANING TIPS

CULTURED MARBLE / CULTURED GRANITE / GRANITE FUSION

Clean with non-abrasive cleaners. We recommend using a soft clean cloth. Scrubbing bubbles, Lysol, and 409 bathroom cleaner are some that we personally use and recommend. DO NOT USE COMET, AJAX, OR SOFT SCRUB. DO NOT USE ANYTHING THAT WILL SCRATCH THE SURFACE.

Whirlpool systems need to be cleaned once a month to prevent fungus build up, which can seize your motor. You can fill your tub with warm water, add laundry detergent or bleach, and let the system run for about 30 minutes.

The screen on the tub that sucks the water back through the jets needs to stay on at all times. If the screen is removed, you are risking a wash cloth or other object getting sucked into your motor.

Granite

NATURAL GRANITE

Granite can be cleaned with a mild soap and soft washcloth. DO NOT use generic cleaning products such as bleach, glass cleaners, de-greasers or other common household cleaners. Also, you do not want to use vinegar, ammonia, lemon or orange as cleaners.

It is important to keep your granite sealed. The installers will seal the granite at the time of installation. Most colors need to be resealed once a year. Lighter colors we recommend sealing twice a year.

Routine Care

For routine cleaning, use a damp cloth or paper towel and, if necessary, a small amount of mild soap. Once clean, rinse and dry surface thoroughly.

Specialized products such as Quick Clean and Plus 10, available from VMC Technical Assistance Corporation, can be used to further assist with routine care and maintenance.

Removing Difficult Spills

Even though Santamargherita Quartz resists permanent staining when exposed to liquids (such as wine, vinegar, tea, lemon juice and soda) or fruits and vegetables, wipe up spills as soon as possible.

For stubborn or dried spills, use a non-abrasive cleaning pad such as a white 3M Scotch-Brite scrub pad combined with a small amount of mild soap or specialized stone cleaner.

Preventing Heat and Other Damage

Santamargherita Quartz is heat resistant and can withstand limited exposure to normal cooking temperatures from pots, pans and dishes without being damaged.

Although Santamargherita Quartz is more heat resistant than any other stone surface, it is still subject to potential damaged when exposed to sudden and extreme temperature changes.

For this reason, we recommend the use of trivets and hot pads whenever possible. Santamargherita Quartz is also scratch resistant, but not scratch proof. Therefore, when using a knife, a cutting board is always recommended.
